Overview

This course for current and prospective design review panel Chairs explores their role and responsibilities at each stage in the design review process. It provides guidance on how to prepare effectively, lead the process on the day, and ensure clear, accurate reporting.

Suitable for Design Review Panel Chairs.

Learning Outcomes
  • Receive a general introduction to design review and its benefits, including the history and policy foundations of design review.
  • Develop familiarity with the design review process and the roles of Panel Members and Chairs within it.
  • Recognise that the Chair’s role includes both Chair and Panel Member responsibilities, and understand when and how to clearly convey these. 
  • Understand the Chair’s responsibilities before, during and after the review, including preparing effectively, guiding the process on the day, managing the review discussion and writing the report.
  • Recognise how to employ good chairing techniques to support a collaborative, consistent and efficient process.
